Moved to Stockbridge, MA in 1818 where he became the owner of the RedLion Inn on the Boston and Albany Post Line. He was staterepresentative in 1844 and 1845, VP of the Housatanic AgriculturalSociety of Great Barrington, MA and a justice of the peace for 12years. He married Cynthia Smith Galpin who died at Stockbridge12/19/1893. There were no children of this marriage. Robert's will,7/2/1868, left his estate to his wife and on her death it went toFrancis S., Mary T. and William D., children of brother Sylvester.
