John Neale

Rev John Neale. John Neale who was born on 9 February 1754 and diedon 26 October 1841 at Boddington. He was ordained deacon in 1777 andpriest in 1781. He was instituted as rector of St Mary-le-Port,Bristol, in 1782 and remained as rector for 59 years. He was nonresident for at least part of that time. He married Anne Blagdon in1783 at Honiton, who died on 6 February 1831 and is buried atBoddington. They had 13 children.
Laura, born 7 February 1797, married (Edward Blagdon's son and so hercousin) John Blagdon (1799 - 1853) in 1819 at Boddington.
Francis, born 1799, married (Edward's daughter and so his cousin) AnneBlagdon in 1824.
John Neale was vicar of Staverton with Boddington from 1794 - 1841.His estate was valued at under 2,000 pounds and bequests were to hischildren Albina Pitt, Mary Adelaide, Clara Blagdon, Francis, Anna,Emily and Laura (Minnoch John Neale). St Mary Magdalene's Guidestates (p. 10) that from about 1803 Rev John Neale lived at BoddingtonManor, obtaining a licence to do so from the bishop, "the duties ofyour parish being in the meantime performed to our satisfaction byyour licenced curate who resides in the Glebe House …".
