John Hanna K Sammis

Methodist Minister. Wrote words to hymns Trust and Obey and Jesus isa Friend of Mine. 1880 Living in Glidden, Iowa with wife Mary. 1910living in LA, CA with wife Mary teaching at a Bible School.

John was a business man in Logansport, IN. He then attended McCormickand Lane Theological Seminary and was ordained a Presbyterian ministerin 1880. He served in Glidden, IA., Indianapolis, Grandhaven, MI.,Redwing, MN., and Sullivan, IN. and eventually taught at The BibleInstitute of Los Angeles. He wrote the Hymn Trust and Obey, which isstill widely sung and in protestant hymnals. He died in Los Angeles in1919. He can be "Googled" on the internet.

John H. Sammis was the writer of the Christian hymn Trust and Obeywith Townerin 1887[1][2]. Sammis was born in 1846, in Brooklyn, NewYork and died in 1919 in Los Angeles, California. A businessman whobecame an ordained minister, John Sammis also wrote the hymn He's aFriend of Mine. He taught at the Bible Institute of Los Angeles.Sammis' wrote over 100 hymns, most of them can be categorized in"Songs of TRUST" and "Songs of OBEDIENCE", were compiled by T. 1893 a Logansport, Indiana newspaper said that Rev. John KH Sammiswould be substituting for Rev. DH Putnam during his absence.
