We regret to have to record the demise of Mrs. Davies, wife of theRev. T.L. Davies, Baptist minister of this town, which took placeyesterday, at the parsonage, in Eyre-street, Shortland. Mrs Davies hasbeen a great sufferer for some years, but since her arrival in thiscolony, in February last, she has been almost entirely confined to herhome. During her life she has been an earnest co-worker with Mr.Davies in his Christian duties at Presteign I Badnorshire), Maindee(Newport, Monnouthshire) and at Brisbane, where they arrived fromEngland about three years ago. Deceased was a lady by birth andeducation. She was the daughter of John Blagdon, Esq., of the manor,of Boddington, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, and the neice of G. Neill,Esq., an eminent barrister, and author of "The life of the Bishop ofOxford," Mrs Davies belonged to a High Church family, the living ofBoddington being in the gift of her father. Several branches of herfamily are clergyman of the CHurch of England, and a sister is marriedalso to a very popular Welsh Baptist minister, the Rev. NathanielThomas of Cardiff. Much sympathy is evinced for Mr Davies and his sonin their bereavment. We believe the remains will be interred tomorrowafternoon.
